QuickBooks Error 1328

About QuickBooks Error 1328

QuickBooks Error 1328 occurs when the installer encounters a file of a different version than it expects.

why QuickBooks Error 1328 happens?

QuickBooks Error 1328 can also happen during the repair process, as well as other times when installing, updating, or uninstalling any version of QuickBooks, not just Enterprise. Most of the time, the error 1328 is harmless. If “Ignore” is continually selected, the process will complete successfully.

The message received usually refers to the specific file. The error looks something like: c:\config.msi\PT**.TMP. The file name in the error message may not be the same as shown here, but the C:\config.msi\ path will be the same.

While this may seem repetitive, there are actually two possible situations to resolve shown here. The difference is the way the Error 1328 presents itself with the option buttons.

Situation 1:

If the Error 1328 contains the buttons Abort, Retry, and Ignore the first step is to rename the config.msi folder on the computer. Temporary (.tmp) files in the config.msi folder prevent QuickBooks from finishing the process it is using.

The config.msi folder is a temporary repository for storing scripts needed to roll back an installation if it fails. Once the program installs correctly, the contents of this folder are deleted. Sometimes they are unable to be removed, so they become stuck. Once they are stuck, they can cause problems with QuickBooks repairing or updating itself.

To locate the config..msi file, follow the steps below:

Open Windows Explorer (right-click on the Start button and select Explore)
Double-click on the C: drive
Show hidden files and folders (Tools > Folder Options > Select View tab >Hidden files and folders > select Show hidden files and folders > Click Apply and OK)
Show protected operating system files (Tools > Folder Options > Select View tab > Deselect Hide protected operating system files > Click Apply and OK)
Right-click config.msi and select Rename
Add .old to the end of the filename and press Enter (the filename should now be Config.msi.old)
Hide protected operating system files and hidden files and folders again (following Step 3 and 4 above, but hiding, instead of showing)
Now update, repair, uninstall, or install should complete without error. I would suggest that if you are not familiar with computers, you may want to consult a computer technician to assist you with these steps.

 Also,

Once the rename has been completed, try to repair QuickBooks again. If you receive the error again, click the Ignore button as many times as it comes up to complete the process.

In case the Error 1328 appears with only the Retry or Cancel buttons, select Retry one time. If this does not allow the process to continue click Cancel.

If you cancelled the process, follow the steps to try to resolve the issue. The first steps may solve your problem, or you may need to try all three to resolve the issue. For best results, try the steps in the order.

Important: These troubleshooting steps may help resolve your issue since focus on the Windows operating system.

As stated before, if you are not comfortable doing these steps on your own, you can find expert assistance by consulting your computer’s manufacturer or a Windows expert. If the difficulty persists after performing these steps, contact your computer’s manufacturer or Microsoft.

Repair QuickBooks

After the Repair process is complete, restart your computer and then open QuickBooks. If you still encounter the problem, go through the next steps.

Reinstall QuickBooks

With this step we would recommend downloading the program from the Internet. We suggest this because the download will have all of the current updates for your program. This would mean you would install once and have all of the updates completed. Please follow the link to download your version.

support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/Articles/INF12417

Rename the config.msi folder
Follow the steps given above for this function.

QuickBooks Error 1330

QuickBooks Error 1330

About QuickBooks Error 1330

This is not a POS error, it is a Windows error. It looks like you have a damaged data cab file. Please try uninstalling POS using the directions below.  The cab file for POS sits in the folders you need to rename below.

Error 1330. A file that is required cannot be installed because the cabinet file X:\data1.cab has an invalid digital sig. This may indicate that the cabinet file is corrupt. error 24592 was returned by WinVerifyTrust.

This is an error that can happen when you are trying to install an older version of QuickBooks Point of Sale.

So what is happening?

To uninstall Point of Sale

Please save any files you may have open and then exit all programs.
Click the Windows Start button and choose Run. Enter Control in the Open field and click OK to open the Control Panel. Double-click Add or Remove Programs.
Select QuickBooks Point of Sale 7.0, click Change/Remove (the button name may vary depending on your version of Windows).
Please click Yes on the Add or Remove Programs dialog.
Once the uninstall process is complete, please rename the QuickBooks Point of Sale 7.0 folder (the default location is C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks Point of Sale 7.0).
Rename the C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\QuickBooks Point of Sale 7.0 folder.
Rename the QBPOSDBSrvUser folder located in C:\Documents and Settings.
Remove the QBPOSDBSrvUser Windows login:
Click the Microsoft Windows Start button and choose Run and now enter control in the Open field and then click OK.
Now, double-click User Accounts.
Click the Users tab and, in the list of User Names, select QBPOSDBSrvUse
Click Remove to delete the account and confirm the deletion. Close all open windows.
Now, restart the computer.

Please reinstall POS and see if this corrects the problem.

In case,  this doesn’t fix the problem, jump to Solution 2

Regarding the Error 1330, other issue could be that there is a digital signature assigned to the cab files in the background. That signature is dated, and this date is compared to the system date.

Steps :

First, reset the system date back to around 2006. You can usually double click the clock in the lower right of the screen, and then reset the year.
When you run the install, it should proceed normally.
Once the software is installed, set the year back to the current year on the system.
By resetting the year, it places the Digital Signature of that Cab file into a time when it was current.
This could very well resolve the Error 1330. In case the problem persist, please call at
